What does “provisionally selected” mean?
Seeing your number in the PDF is an important result, but do not treat it as an unconditional appointment.
The official Apprentice advertisement says final selection/engagement is subject to:
- verification of eligibility and information submitted in the application;
- meeting the specified local-language requirement, where applicable; and
- being declared medically fit according to SBI’s requirement.
Follow any email, SMS or circle-level instruction sent by SBI and keep checking the official Careers page for further directions.
Local Language Test: who may not need to take it?
SBI says candidates for a State must be able to read, write, speak and understand one of the specified local languages for that State.
However, candidates who produce a 10th or 12th standard mark sheet/certificate showing that they studied the specified opted local language are not required to undergo the language test. Other candidates may have to take the language test at a centre decided by SBI.
SBI Apprentice West Bengal Result 2026: 460 training seats
For candidates from West Bengal, the official advertisement lists 460 apprentice training seats. The specified local-language choices are Bengali or Nepali.

7,150 “posts” or training seats?
Search results commonly use the phrase 7,150 posts, but SBI’s official advertisement calls them training seats of apprentices.
That difference matters. SBI states that an apprentice is not an employee of the Bank, and the apprenticeship is not regular or contract employment with SBI.
The notified training period is one year. Apprentices are eligible for a stipend of ₹15,000 per month during the engagement period and are not entitled to the normal allowances/benefits available to SBI employees.
What about the 11 July 2026 exam date?
Current result reports state that the online examination was held on 11 July 2026. SBI’s original May advertisement had only stated that the online examination was tentatively planned for July 2026.
For the result itself, the stronger verification is SBI’s current Careers page, which now shows the provisional-selection list under the correct advertisement number.
SBI Apprentice wait list
The official advertisement says SBI will maintain a State-category-wise wait list for one year from the result date or until the next apprentice engagement exercise, whichever is earlier. Candidates can be released from the wait list against non-joining, subject to availability of qualified candidates.
So, even if your number is not in the first published list, follow only later official SBI updates rather than paying anyone who claims they can alter the result.
